Backing the Bees could end in embarrassment

IT'S not the best Monday of football with a mediocre La Liga match and a League One clash on the agenda and I expect that the highlight of my evening of football viewing will be backing Brentford against Carlisle just so I can think up increasingly daft Bees puns.

I'll probably start off with a few gentle classics, talking about how sweet I was on them before the game, how glad I am that they appear to be absolutely buzzing and how pleasing it is to be waxing lyrical about them.

The trouble is, if I have a few beers during the game the terrible
puns tend to get rapidly worse and before I know it I'm calling the players honey and queen.

By the start of the second half I'll probably be shouting: "Pollinate the flower! Pollinate the flower!" every time Gary Alexander gets near the goal.

It's embarrassing enough by that stage, so I'm just hoping there won't be a sting in the tail.

B Munich v Chelsea

Home Win Draw Away Win
Key stats
  • Chelsea have scored two goals or more in four of their last six fixtures
  • Bayern Munich have kept just one clean sheet in their last six matches
Expert verdict
Chelsea have battled their way through to the Champions League final against all the odds and look decent value to lift the trophy. The Blues have rediscovered a winning mentality under Roberto Di Matteo and can take advantage of an overrated Bayern Munich team who were outclassed by Borussia Dortmund in the German Cup final.
