This is www.soccerbase.com the most comprehensive source of British football data on the Internet.
The ethos of soccerbase is that where possible, everything is a hyperlink. If you want to find something
out about anyone or anything, click on it. Note that you can use the 'Latest Fastfind' drop down menu at
the top of the screen (next to the help button) to navigate instantly to the latest information for all major
competitions.
1 Home
The Soccerbase home page displays all the results from the most recent day of fixtures in the Soccerbase.com database and all the fixtures from the next day of fixtures in the Soccerbase.com database. Note that to find out the details of a match click on the score, or 'vs' for
uncompleted fixtures.
2 Latest
This section contains summary information for all the main English and Scottish league and cup competitions.
Latest league pages display the past week's results, the next week's fixtures, an up-to-date league table, the
top scorers and bookings and red cards. Note these figures are only for games played in that competition
i.e. the top scorers table on the English Premier latest screen displays goals scored in the English Premier
League only. Transfers and loans between clubs in that league are also displayed, as well as any management
changes. For cup competitions the most recent round's results and the next round's fixtures are displayed,
along with scorers, bookings and red cards for that competition.
3 Searching
If you know what you are looking for, the quickest way to find it will be by searching in the text box below the
left hand menu. You may search by name for teams, players, managers, referees, grounds and head-to-head
(all-time results between two teams). Choose what to search for using the drop down menu. If the database can't
exactly match what you have typed in, it will attempt a fuzzy search. So, even if you're not sure of how to spell
what you're looking for, give it a go, because we may still find it for you. Note, for head-to-head searching,
insert a comma between the names of the two teams.
4 Teams
On the first page of the teams section, use the teamfinder to choose your team by region and current league
competition. In the team section you will find current squads, all time records and much more.
5 Competitions
Choose either league or cup competitions by region. Leagues will display current league tables, cups will display
all the matches played in that cup competition. From here you can find all historical league and cup information.
Note that clicking on the played column of a league table will take you to the games played by that team in that
season..
6 Head-to-Head
In the head-to-head section you can find all time results between any two British teams. In addition you will find
all results for British teams in European competitions. You can choose teams by text searching or from the
teamfinder. Click on a competition in the results page to find all competition information from that season.
7 Players
In addition to searching, you can use the teamfinder to find a player. In the player's page you will find details
for his career and matches played in the current season. You can also find matches from other seasons,
but note that this data is not complete prior to the 1996/97 season. Player records are complete for all current
English players while playing for English clubs. There is also data on retired players but at the moment this is
not complete for all players. Note that in player's career statistics figures in brackets are for appearances as a substitute. Goals per game are calculated as
goals scored /
(appearances + sub appearances)
8 Managers
In addition to searching, you can use the teamfinder to find a manager. You will find the clubs which a manager has
managed and his record during that time.
9 Grounds
In addition to searching, you can use the teamfinder to find a ground. You will find information about the ground,
the average attendance for the current season, and details of every club who has ever played there.
10 Referees
The referees' section contains information about all current English and Scottish Referees. Clicking on a referee
will show you all the professional games in which he has officiated for the current season, and a summary of yellow
and cards given in those games. You can also find the referee's record for other seasons subsequent to the 1996/97
season.
11 Season
This page displayes the winners of every major English, Scottish and European competition for the most
recently completed season. It is also possible to select this information for every season since 1871/72,
the year the FA Cup was first played.
