15-2 Iceland send England out of Europe

ENGLAND crashed out of Euro 2016 with an embarrassing 2-1 last-16 defeat to 15-2 underdogs Iceland on Monday night.

Wayne Rooney put the Three Lions ahead with an early penalty after Raheem Sterling was brought down. But Iceland were level through Ragnar Sigurdsson within two minutes after a long throw and Kolbeinn Sigthorsson made it 2-1 after just 18 minutes as Joe Hart made a mess of stopping his drive.

Hills quoted Hart at 1-3 to start England's next competitive game and 9-4 to be dropped after his mistake, but that next game will be much further away than was expected at that time.

Iceland were cut from 150-1 to 40-1 to rule Europe and will now face hosts France in the quarter-finals on Sunday.

Manager Roy Hodgson looks set to lose his job - Hills quote 7-1 that he manages England in a competitive fixture again and 1-20 that he doesn't.

And somewhat ironically the favourite to succeed him is Gareth Southgate, whose penalty miss knocked England out of the European Championship 20 years ago.

Southgate is 6-1 with Paddy Power and Betfair to take over, but just 4-1 with Sky Bet,  with Alan Pardew (9-1) and Gary Neville (10-1) also at the top of an uninspiring list. Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe, whose youth and can-do attitude make him the opposite of Hodgson,
will have his supporters at 16-1.

France are 11-4 favourites with bet365 and Hills, just ahead of 3-1 Germany, who will meet Italy - 2-0 conquerors of Spain earlier in the day - in the quarter-finals.

Belgium, favourites to come through the top half of the draw, are 4-1, with Italy 13-2 shots.
