6-1 Guardiola heads list to replace under-fire AVB
CHELSEA are staring down the barrel after their dismal 3-1 defeat in Naples and bookimakers are questioning whether under-fire manager Andre Villas-Boas will still be at the helm when the decisive second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie takes place at Stamford Bridge in just under three weeks.
Villas-Boas has three Premier League fixtures and an FA Cup replay to deal with before getting to grips with Napoli again.
But the patience of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich may not last that long. Bet365 think there is every chance of an imminent change and offer 11-8 about Villas-Boas losing his job
before the second leg and 8-15 that he remains at the helm.
However, Hills were offering 3-1 on Wednesday that the manager would not be in the dugout for the return leg.
If Abramovich decides to wield the axe he faces a tough task in
finding a replacement who can breathe new life into the club’s
fast-disintigrating campaign.
Rafa Benitez and Fabio Capello may be viewed as short-term solutions and are available at a best-priced 8-1 and 9-1 to replace the Portuguese.
Pep Guardiola is the 6-1 market leader, while Jose Mourinho is available at 7-1.
Wolves’ search for a new manager took another twist when Brian McDermott ruled himself out by signing a new long-term contract at Reading.
McDermott’s odds eased from 2-1 to 25-1 after news of his Reading deal, while Wolves caretaker boss Terry Connor was cut from 66-1 to 10-1.
Steve Bruce was interviewed for the post last week and was the 5-2 favourite on Wednesday night.
