Aguero provides lifeline with hat-trick for City
MANCHESTER CITY live to fight another day in the Champions League after two late goals from Sergio Aguero gave them a 3-2 victory over ten-man Bayern Munich last night.
There was joy at the Etihad after Mehdi Benatia was sent off for a foul on Aguero and the Argentinian scored the resulting penalty.
However, first-half goals from Xabi Alonso and Robert Lewandowski put the German outfit in charge. It took another Aguero goal with five minutes remaining to hand City a lifeline and he then completed his
hat-trick in stoppage time.
They can advance to the knockout stage if they can beat Roma in Italy on December 10, although they could be scuppered if CSKA Moscow win in Munich.
The Russians would then qualify as they have the better head-to-head record with City after their 2-1 victory at the Etihad earlier this month.
City are 10-11 with Ladbrokes to make it through to the last 16 and the same price not to qualify, while bet365 have them at 25-1 to win the trophy.
Chelsea have no such worries as Jose Mourinho’s side cruised to a 5-0 victory at Schalke, which means they qualify as Group G winners.
They are 11-2 with bet365 to win the competition, along with Barcelona, while Bayern and Real Madrid remain 3-1 favourites.
