Alli's season is over after three-game ban
DELE ALLI’S fine debut Premier League season is over after his appeal over a three-game suspension for violent conduct following a clash with West Brom’s Claudio Yacob was rejected by the Football Association.
The Tottenham midfielder must sit out the remainder of the campaign and is banned for the away games at Chelsea and Newcastle as well as the home clash with Southampton which is a clear blow to Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Second-placed Spurs, who are seven points behind Leicester with three matches remaining, can be backed at 14-1 to with the Premier League with the leaders just 1-20 favourites.
Alli has impressed for Spurs with ten Premier League goals since signing from MK Dons to force his way into the England squad and claim the PFA Young Player of the Year award, but Roy Hodgson won’t want to see a repeat of Monday’s behaviour at Euro 2016.
However, the incident does not appear to have harmed Alli’s chances with Sky Bet only 1-5 that the 20-year-old starts the opening match against Russia, while bet365 rate him a 10-1 chance to be England’s top goalscorer in France.
Mark Clattenburg will referee the FA Cup final between Crystal Palace and Manchester United at Wembley on May 21.
Bet365 rate arbiter Clattenburg a 10-1 chance to follow the FA Cup final by being given the whistle for the Euro 2016 final.
