Arsenal demolish Blues in London derby

ARSENAL highlighted their title credentials with a 3-0 derby demolition job on Chelsea.

The game was over as a contest by the half-time interval after early strikes from Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil with Arsenal 9-1 to win the title. Chelsea have drifted to 16-1.

Manchester United bounced back to winning ways with a resounding 4-1 victory over Leicester at Old Trafford.

Wayne Rooney, who had been 6-5 to be dropped, was left out of Jose Mourinho’s starting 11 and he could find it difficult to win his spot back in the short term following the excellent result.

All of United’s goals came in the first half – Chris Smalling, Juan Mata, Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba put United in complete control – before Demarai Gray scored a stunning consolation for the otherwise crushed champions.

Rooney is 11-2 with Hills not to be selected for England’s World Cup matches next month and 1-10 to be involved, while United are 9-1 to win the title.

The Red Devils remain six points behind neighbours Manchester City, who maintained their perfect start under Pep Guardiola with a 3-1 success at Swansea.

Fernando Llorente cancelled out Sergio Aguero’s early opener but the Argentinian also notched from the spot on his return from suspension and Raheem Sterling added a third for the Citizens.

City are 4-7 to win the title and next up in the Premier League for Guardiola is a trip to second-placed Tottenham with Paddy Power rating the leaders 11-10 to win at White Hart Lane.

Spurs, three points behind City, are the only other remaining side in the top flight as they continued their confident start with a 2-1 triumph at Middlesbrough.

Heung-Min Son notched twice for Tottenham with Ben Gibson on target for Boro.

Liverpool thrashed ten-man Hull 5-1 at Anfield. Adam Lallana, James Milner (two penalties), Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho hit the net for the rampant Reds.

Sunderland, 3-2 losers at home to Crystal Palace, remain bottom and Salomon Rondon’s injury-time equaliser snatched West Brom a point at Stoke, who had led through Joe Allen.

Everton suffered their first league defeat of the term, losing 1-0 at Bournemouth.
