Barton set to face
betting charges
RANGERS midfielder Joey Barton has been charged with breaking the Scottish FA’s betting rules.
Players in Scotland are banned from betting on any match in the world but Barton has been accused of placing 44 bets between July 1 and September 25.
He has until Wednesday to respond and a hearing date has been set for October 27.
If found guilty, he could receive a suspension and he is due to return to the club on Monday after receiving a three-week ban following a training-ground bust-up.
Neil Warnock, who has been out of work since leaving Rotherham at the end of last season, has been appointed as the new manager of Cardiff City who sacked Paul Trollope yesterday.
The Bluebirds are second from bottom of the Sky Bet Championship and are 9-4 with that firm to be relegated.
