Big Sam early favourite to replace axed Pearson
LEICESTER have sacked manager Nigel Pearson due to “fundamental differences in perspective” between the manager and the owners, the club reported on Tuesday night.
He began the day as a 4-1 shot to be the next Premier League manager to leave but had been slashed to 1-5 by 5pm.
His departure was confirmed at around 7.30pm with his odds for the boot suspended at 1-10.
The Foxes, who won seven of their last nine Premiership matches last season to avoid the drop, were nibbled at to be relegated next season but Coral and Ladbrokes held their joint-best 9-2.
With bookmakers' lists starting to take shape, Sam Allardyce looks like being the early favourite to take over at the King Power Stadium at around 4-1. But Neil Lennon, Sean Dyche, Michael Laudrup, Esteban Cambiasso and Martin O'Neill are also quoted at single-figure prices in places, while the chances of Harry Redknapp, Roberto Di Matteo, Paul Lambert and Guus Hiddink are far from dismissed.
