Big Sam odds-on to be the next England boss
SAM ALLARDYCE is now odds-on with Sky Bet to be named England's new manager following the recent departure of Roy Hodgson.
Allardyce, best-priced at 6-4 with Betway, helped the Black Cats avoid the drop to the Sky Bet Championship last season, and was already favourite among the English candidates. But bookmakers now have him as their number one ahead of United States head coach Jurgen Klinsmann, who has drifted to 4-1 from 6-4.
Earlier in the week the FA suggested Premier League experience was crucial to those wanting the job and that may have contributed to the Sunderland manager's odds being slashed from as big as 6-1 yesterday.
Eddie Howe looks the biggest English danger to Allardyce, and he may have the right credentials to pick up the pieces of England's disastrous Euro 2016 campaign after he was supported in to 12-1 with bet365.
