Russians look out
of their depth
ACCORDING to the Uefa website, the mood in the German Under-21 camp is ‘sombre' and because of that the players felt they had no option but to head out to the pool on the hotel roof to process the team's Euro elimination.
They didn't go out there for a swim and a laugh, you understand. Gosh no, they went poolside en masse strictly to ‘process the team's elimination'.
Jeez, life's tough for these youngsters. When I'm sombre and feel the need to spend an hour or so processing some setback or another, I tend to trudge off miserably to the lav with a copy of the Racing Post under my arm, not go larking around in the deep end before slapping on a coat of factor 20. Hope they get burned!
I also hope their early exit has been treated with the same contempt in Berlin as England's abject demise has been on these shores.
That said, sickened as I am by their lack of humility, I'm backing the German youngsters to sign off with a resounding win against Russia and I'm also on over 3.5 goals, confident that as both countries can't go through, they'll at least lay on a bit of entertainment for neutrals and punters.
Germany look like a team full of goals whereas the Russians look like a group who can't defend to save their lives.
