A certainty double and a punt on Toon troubles
GREAT word ‘baffled’. I use it a lot; whenever I open a letter from the bank, for example, or see people chuckling at David Walliams.
It’s also the word of choice right now at Newcastle. It’s not the only word being used in light of the appointment of Joe Kinnear as something above Pardew, but below Ashley, to the left of the chief scout, right of the burger seller. But it’s the best word that’s printable.
QPR fans must also have a similar sense of bafflement this week. Just a couple of weeks ago they were looking forward to games against Arsenal and Chelsea. Now the only fixture on their schedule so far is Exeter away in the League Cup. Maybe Harry should have gone to Ukraine after all.
The cure for bafflement is of course to have a bet – Newcastle at 14-1 for relegation, as an illustration. Kinnear hasn’t even had a chance to reason with the natives and already one firm has taken an axe to their drop odds, so don’t miss out.
The other bet that needs to be had is the United States/Costa Rica double in World Cup qualifying across the pond.
We’ve reached the last six stateside, which they refer to in the States as the Hexagonal.
In fact, they refer to it as the Hex, which is the height of laziness but then any nation which needs to take the car one block to fill up on donuts rather than walk, is clearly not going to be bothered to go through the grind of having to articulate the last six letters of a perfectly decent nine-letter word.
