Scouring the coupon for the next giant killers

IT’S day five in the BB house, and signs of strain are starting to show.

Yes, we’re almost at the end of a six-day stretch of internationals and I’ll be fairly glad to get back to the Premier League and all the rest of it.

The trouble is that the longer the international break drags on, the more we forget the one or two bright spots that have arisen along the way.

We’ve only just started the road to Euro 2016 and already Albania have beaten Portugal, Slovakia have beaten Spain and Poland got the result of their lives by seeing off Germany 2-0. Those three results came in at 11-1, 9-1 and 6-1, prices that aren’t to be sniffed at, whatever the competition.

After all, if we’re struggling to keep the interest levels up day after day, it’s got to be tough for the players too, and given that a lot of the groups are pretty uncompetitive, there’s plenty of room for complacency.

So who’s going to take their eye off the ball tonight?

I’d love to back Andorra at 40-1 to beat Israel, or Malta at the same price to see off Italy, but that might be pushing it too far.

Maybe I should be looking for Iceland to land the shock at 11-2 at home to Holland. We all know what the Dutch are like – brilliant but moody. The trouble is, though, that they don’t lose many games like this.

So it has to be Cyprus, 8-1 shots to win in Wales. Sorry Wales. But a lot of people say you’ve only got one player – the joke doing the rounds is that they should change the name of the country to Bales – and with so many injuries that’s close to coming true.
