Premier League sack race turning into titanic battle

ARSENE WENGER against Brendan Rodgers. The Clash of the Titans. Just who is going to lose his job first?

It's only just six months since Arsenal were heading off to Islington Town Hall on an open-top bus to celebrate their fantastic achievement of beating Championship Wigan on penalties and then needing extra-time to see off Hull to win the FA Cup.

But the feel-good factor has lasted about as long as an ice cream in the Sahara and now Wenger's back is against the wall again.

The boo boys are back and the knives are out, as if finishing fourth with the fourth highest wage bill in the Premier League was not good enough.

And then there's Rodgers, whose attempt to turn Liverpool into Southampton has not surprising left them in mid-table.

But he is not the first manager to realise that you cannot just go out and replace a world-class player at the drop of a hat.

It's interesting that if you canvassed the opinions of the disgruntled that, apart from the odd Anfield-based delusionist who would love to see Rafa Banitez return, most of them would be championing the claims of Dortmund's Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp may do his credentials no harm with a win at the Emirates tonight, but I don't think so.

His team are in the depths of the German league for a reason and the Gunners can get back on track.

Liverpool's trip to Ludogorets looks pretty tough and I'm surprised to see them available at odds-on.

I went for a draw when they went to Crystal Palace on Sunday and I'll go for that again.

Anything less and they really would have something to moan about.
