No way to explain Arsenal's inexplicability

THE clocks go forward in a few weeks, Easter’s almost here and Arsenal’s season is imploding.

You can set your watch by all three.

That said, the great wonder of Arsenal is their inexplicable ability to be, er, completely inexplicable. How else do you figure out Arsene Wenger, a man who never buys anyone, signing Kim Kallstrom? Utterly and bizarrely inexplicable – and therefore, so very Arsenal.

So it follows that everyone presumes Barcelona will batter the Gunners in the Nou Camp, but wouldn’t it be typical if the same side that struggled to beat Hull and has been recently mugged by Swansea and Palace goes and shoves one up Messi and co.

They did it to Bayern and Dortmund when no one fancied it.

Having said that, I still can’t bring myself to lay Barcelona – but I can definitely make a case for taking on Bayern at home to Juventus.

Any side that can keep clean sheets in 12 of their last 14 games is clearly better at defending than Aston Villa.

Now it’s true that one of those other two matches was the 2-2 draw with Bayern in the first leg in Turin.

But it was the way Juve fought back from two down to draw which was more noteworthy than the fact that they actually shipped a couple and let’s face it, they’ll not panic at the thought of having to go to Munich and scoring.
