Kane makes it foolish not to go for Turf Moor goals

IT’S been a difficult week for those who like to take in the news with April fools popping up everywhere to play tricks with anyone who believes everything they read in the newspapers.

Snooker fans were left, er, snookered after Betfred owner Fred Done claimed he was entering the World Championship, cricket fans were bowled over by news that Headingley would have a roof put on it in time for 2019 and the best of the lot came from Raheem Sterling, who insisted his decision to snub a £100,000 a week contract with Liverpool is “not about the money at all.”

Only one of those stories wasn’t an April fool and all I can say is good luck to Fred at the Crucible.

Another thing I read this week came from the Sunderland Echo with five reasons why Sunderland is better than Newcastle. It was published on the website on April 1 but I have no idea if it was genuine or not with the five reasons being 1) the beach; 2) International Airshow; 3) Stadium of Light gigs; 4) Sunderland Empire and 5) Aquatic Centre.

You’ll notice the football team wasn’t one of those five things listed and it has been a desperate season for the Black Cats, but I fancy them to record a derby success over Newcastle, who are weakened seriously by both injury and suspension.

It’s unlikely to be a classic but we could be in for more goals when Burnley take on Tottenham at Turf Moor.

Harry Kane could clear the 2.5 goal line by himself so backing the overs looks a more sensible option than a Easter holiday trip to Sunderland beach.
