Gunners have little to fear from this Greek gang
I LOVE Champions League nights because they invariably enable you to answer questions along the lines of, ‘I wonder whatever happened to…’
This week, for example, should you ask the admittedly slightly unlikely question of, ‘I wonder whatever happened to Manuel da Costa, Patjim Kasami or Brown Ideye?’, you’ll be in luck.
Because you will discover by a stroke of good fortune that all three have bowled up at Olympiakos, alongside Esteban Cambiasso, another Premier League discard.
I had to google Da Costa for a reminder of what he did in his West Ham days (one of the worst free-kicks ever, according to Youtube, was the one ‘highlight’) while West Brom fans need no introduction from Brown Ideye. Just some compensation, perhaps.
The point is that if this is the best Olympiakos can muster then Arsenal have little to fear on matchday two.
It’s an Arsenal win to nil for me – three of the Greek team’s last four away games in the Champions League have ended in defeats to nil. Let’s be honest, Kasami will never, ever score a goal as good as the one he got for Fulham at Selhurst Park a couple of years ago, while Ideye will never, ever score a goal.
