Blues 3-4 for cup glory
after Saints crash out
CAPITAL ONE CUP favourites Chelsea reached the semi-finals with a 3-1 win at Championship side Derby.
The Blues were cut from 11-8 to 3-4 to win the trophy after there was an upset in Tuesday's other quarter-final as League One Sheffield United extended Southampton's poor run with a 1-0 victory at Bramall Lane.
The Blades had been 6-1 shots to win in 90 minutes but a second-half goal by Marc McNulty did the trick. United are 25-1 from 66-1 for Wembley glory.
Derby's Jake Buxton was sent off for a professional foul when they trailed 2-1 and Chelsea went through with goals by Eden Hazard, Felipe Luis and Andre Schurrle.
Liverpool, who visit Championship leaders Bournemouth on Wednesday in their quarter-final, are 4-1 second favourites with Tottenham, who host Newcastle in the only all-Premier League last-eight clash, 13-2.
