Battling Blues show title credentials as City draw

ARSENAL and Manchester City had to settle for a point in a 2-2 draw at the Emirates which left Chelsea as the big winners in the Premier League as the Blues maintained their perfect start to the campaign with a 4-2 success over Swansea.

The Gunners are already six points behind their London rivals after conceding late on to Martin Demichelis in a pulsating, topsy-turvy contest where neither team managed to hold on to their advantage.

It had looked as if Alexis Sanchez’s stunning volley would give Arsenal maximum points before Demichelis’ intervention, although City themselves had been in front thanks to a Sergio Aguero strike which was cancelled out by Jack Wilshere.

Instead it was left to Chelsea to show their title credentials and bookmakers were duly impressed by the come-from-behind success at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are 8-13 for the title, while City and Arsenal are out to 7-2 and 12-1 respectively and Liverpool can be backed at 12-1 following a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa.

And with Diego Costa in their ranks early pacesetters Chelsea will take some catching.

The former Atletico Madrid striker maintained his stunning start to life in English football with a hat-trick to take his tally to seven goals in four matches and bet365 rate Costa evens to win the Golden Boot.

New signing Loic Remy also bagged for Jose Mourinho’s side but not everything was perfect and the Blues boss will want to sharpen up defensively after Swansea took the lead via John Terry’s own goal.

Villa provided the biggest shock of the day – they belied odds of 11-1 to triumph at Anfield with Gabby Agbonlahor scoring the only goal.

West Brom lost 2-0 at home to Everton, while Crystal Palace
and Burnley played out a 0-0 stalemate at Selhurst Park.

Sunderland and Tottenham also finished level with Harry Kane’s late own goal proving costly for Spurs in the 2-2 draw.

The pressure is building on Newcastle’s Alan Pardew following a dismal 4-0 reverse at Southampton. Graziano Pelle bagged a brace for Saints and Leicester recorded a fine 1-0 victory at Stoke with Leonardo Ulloa the Foxes' match winner.
