Bookmaker sets survival target at 34 points

THE target has been set for the Premier League’s relegation strugglers to reach and one bookmaker reckons it could take just 34 points to secure top-flight survival this season.

That’s the view of bet365, who have set their points line for the team to finish in 18th at over/under 33.5 points, while it’s 14-1 that at least 37 points are needed to survive what is turning into a desperate dogfight at the bottom.

If bookmakers are correct it will be Sunderland (2-5), Hull (4-5) and Crystal Palace (11-10) to fall through the trapdoor but 11-8 Middlesbrough, 15-8 Swansea and 5-2 Leicester face crucial fixtures this weekend.

None more so is that the case than at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday where Swansea host champions Leicester, who are winless on the road this season.

Bet365 are 3-1 about the Foxes not winning away from home in the league this term.

It’s equally tight in the race for the Golden Boot with 16-goal Romelu Lukaku just out in front but five players are within two goals of the Everton striker.

Harry Kane, one of those two back on Lukaku, is rated the 100-30 favourite to retain the Golden Boot with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Diego Costa rated 7-2 shots.

Lukaku is 4-1 to hold on and Betway offer 10-1 there is a dead-heat at the top of the pile.
