Bradford 11-2 for glory after semi-final success
LEAGUE TWO Bradford are 11-2 with Coral to win the Capital One Cup after they booked their place in the final last night with a 4-3 aggregate victory over Aston Villa.
Bradford held a 3-1 advantage from the first leg at Valley Parade but Aston Villa, who were backed from 6-5 in to 10-11 with Ladbrokes to qualify, dominated the first half and took the lead after 24 minutes when striker Christian Benteke converted a Joe Bennett cross.
But the game was turned on its head ten minutes after the break when Bradford’s James Hanson powered a magnificent header into the back of the net.
The goal knocked the stuffing out of the hosts and although Andreas Weimann scored late on to give Villa a 2-1 victory on the night, it was not enough to deny the Bantams their place at Wembley.
The result was a disaster for under-fire Villa boss Paul Lambert, and Hills responded by quoting him at 5-1 to be out of a job by the weekend and 2-1 to leave the club before the end of the January transfer window.
Capital One Cup (best prices): 8-11 Swansea (Paddy Power, 11-4 Chelsea (Ladbrokes), 11-2 Bradford (Coral).
