Bristol City 8-1 to claim top-flight berth

BRISTOL CITY are 8-1 with bet365 to claim a place in the Premier League in time for the 2016-17 season after Steve Cotterill’s side confirmed their return to the Championship last night.

The Robins posted a thumping 6-0 victory at Bradford to secure promotion from League One at the second attempt and they are 25-1 with the firm to win next season’s Championship.

This year’s race for the top flight looks likely to go to the wire as all five of the teams in the top six who were in action – Watford travel to Nottingham Forest tonight – claimed valuable victories.

Leaders Bournemouth earned a 1-0 win at Reading, but second-placed Norwich were able to stay right on their heels with a 2-0 success at Leeds.

Challengers Middlesbrough also posted a victory at Wolves’ expense, while Derby and Ipswich boosted their push for playoff positions.

In the Champions League, Juventus grabbed a first-leg advantage in their quarter-final against Monaco, courtesy of a 57th-minute penalty from their Chilean star Arturo Vidal.

The return leg will be played at the home of Arsenal’s conquerors next week and the Serie A leaders are expected to reach the semi-finals.

They are 1-5 to qualify with Monaco 4-1.

Atletico and Real played out a goalless draw in the Madrid derby in the night’s other quarter-final, which left bet365 refunding correct score, double result and scorecast bets under their bore-draw promotion.

Real are 8-13 to qualify while Atletico are 7-4.
