Carver 7-2 to be named as permanent Toon boss
JOHN CARVER has been named as Newcastle’s manager until the end of the season but he is 7-2 with Coral to lead the Magpies into the start of next term with the club 1-6 to have found a replacement by then for Alan Pardew.
Bet365 and Ladbrokes have paid out on Carver and will also honour bets should somebody else come in over the summer which looks almost certain given the manner of Newcastle’s statement which was issued on their official website yesterday.
Managing director Lee Charnley said: "At the beginning of this process it was my desire and intention to appoint an individual to the position of head coach who would be available to start immediately.
“Having now explored at some length the options available to us at this time, the decision has been taken to defer the appointment of a permanent head coach until the end of the season.
“The head coach will be a long-term appointment that will play a major role in shaping the future on-field progression of Newcastle United and it is vitally important that we get the right individual."
Carver is 13-8 with Betfair to land the stated top-ten target, while Hills rate the coach 1-4 to see out the season and 11-4 to depart.
Hills make Frank de Boer 5-1 to start next season as Newcastle manager and Remi Garde, who won’t be available until the summer, can be backed at 8-1.
