Cavani 10-11 to claim Ligue 1 Golden Boot
THE new French season begins on Friday with Paris St-Germain in their usual position as red-hot title favourites.
PSG, under new management after Unai Emery replaced Laurent Blanc, are 1-10 to claim a fifth successive domestic championship.
Emery has said that Edinson Cavani and Thiago Silva lack match fitness and won’t be seen at their best until next week, although new signing Jese is in line to make his debut against Bastia on Friday having signed from Real Madrid.
Cavani, so often in the shadow of the departed Zlatan Ibrahimovic during his time in the French capital, is 10-11 to finish the season as the leading goalscorer with Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette seen as the man most likely to challenge him.
Lyon head the market in the betting without PSG and if the odds are correct it will be Monaco joining them in the Champions League qualifying spots.
Monaco start their campaign at home to last term’s strugglers Guingamp on Friday.
