Bayern hoping to make it third time lucky

BAYERN MUNICH have been here before.

Having lost two of the last three Champions League finals, Bayern are back for more taking on fellow Germans Borussia Dortmund in a mouth-watering showdown at Wembley on Saturday.

Jupp Heynckes’ side are 2-5 favourites to get their hands on the European Cup and their veteran boss was feeling confident ahead of the final. He said: I've always thought we could win this competition. We have an extraordinary team and they play as a unit. If we can draw on that, we're going to win the match.”

Bayern have no new fresh injury problems with only Toni Kroos and Holger Badstuber injured, while Dortmund must do without Mario Gotze because of a hamstring problem.

Without Gotze even more responsibility will fall on the shoulders of Robert Lewandowski who has already scored ten goals in this season’s competition and can be backed at 9-1 to pick up Uefa’s man of the match award.

Thomas Muller heads the betting at 8-1 in a wide-open heat where Bayern’s flying wingers Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery are 9-1 and 10-1 respectively, while BVB’s speedy Marco Reus is being quoted at 12-1.

The Champions League season started with Barcelona and Real Madrid at the head of the Champions League final market but instead of El Clasico we will have Der Klassiker for the Wembley finale.

It seems like a long time ago that a German winner of the competition was available at 10-1 but that was the ante-post price about a Bundesliga triumph.

Bayern were 14-1 chances when the tournament started on September 18 with Dortmund at 40-1. The all-German final was still 28-1 after their impressive group results.
