Chelsea drawn to host City in FA Cup

CHELSEA thrashed MK Dons 5-1 but things are about to get a whole lot tougher for the Blues in the FA Cup after they were drawn to play Manchester City in the fifth round.

Guus Hiddink’s side will at least be at home for the contest but they are 13-2 to win the competition, while things could barely have been harder for City, who have drifted to 6-1 to win the FA Cup and 200-1 with Betfred to land the quadruple.

Both teams will have Champions League commitments around the weekend of February 20-21 with Chelsea travelling to Paris St-Germain on February 16, while City are in Ukraine to tackle Dynamo Kiev on February 24.

Chelsea have had a dreadful campaign but seem to be getting back to something like their best and could have won by more than the final outcome.

Oscar grabbed a hat-trick, Eden Hazard scored his first goal of the season and Bertrand Traore was also on target for the rampant champions.

Hills make Chelsea and City both 5-6 to qualify and the draw between the big hitters allowed Arsenal to become clear 4-1 favourites to win the competition for the third straight year.

Arsene Wenger’s side should be able to overcome Sky Bet Championship side Hull even though the tie will fall just a few days before a trip to Barcelona.

Manchester United, 5-1 shots, will also be delighted with their fifth-round draw with Louis van Gaal’s side heading to third-tier Shrewsbury, the lowest-ranked club left in the competition.

Tottenham are fifth in the betting at 7-1 and should be satisfied with a home tie against Crystal Palace, while Liverpool or West Ham will travel to Blackburn.

The only other unsettled outcome is the winner of the Peterborough versus West Brom replay with Reading waiting in round five and there is a good opportunity for Watford to progress to the quarter-finals following a home draw with Leeds.

Bournemouth will host Everton, who were comfortable 3-0 victors at Carlisle. Arouna Kone, Aaron Lennon and Ross Barkley were on target for the Toffees.

Monday is the final opportunity for top-flight managers to make changes to their squads for the season and Ladbrokes rate Newcastle 9-2 favourites to sign the most players on transfer deadline day with arch-rivals Sunderland next in the betting at 5-1.

The desperate Magpies are also 6-1 market leaders to make the final Premier League signing.
