Chelsea out to 18-1 for title after Saints defeat

MANCHESTER CITY returned to the top of the table and regained odds-on status at 8-11 in the Premier League title betting after they thrashed Newcastle 6-1 and Chelsea lost 3-1 at home to Southampton.

The champions' title hopes are hanging by a thread and they have doubled in price - they're 18-1 having started the day at 9-1.

The Blues have lost six of their 12 matches in all competitions this season and Ladbrokes offer 3-1 that boss Jose Mourinho is out before Christmas. They're 6-4 that he leaves before the end of the campaign.

City's fightback - five goals from Sergio Aguero helped them come from behind to beat Newcastle - leaves the Magpies at the foot of the table and piles the pressure on boss Steve McClaren. He is still waiting for his first league win at the Magpies' helm.

Newcastle are already five points adrift of safety and have shortened to 6-4 for relegation.

Aguero's heroics take his seasonal tally to six - just one behind Leicester's Jamie Vardy, who leads the scoring charts on seven.

Vardy netted the opening goal as the Foxes sealed a 2-1 win at Norwich.

Crystal Palace are up to third following a 2-0 victory at home to West Brom.

Palace have been cut from 9-2 to 4-1 in bet365's without the big six market, which excludes Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham.

Sunderland climbed off the bottom with a 2-2 draw at home to West Ham but are 2-9 to be relegated, while Bournemouth are 5-2 for the drop after drawing 1-1 at home to Watford.

Aston Villa are 10-11 to go down after losing 1-0 to Stoke.
