Classy City claim Shield success over Chelsea

Manchester City are 4-6 from 8-11 to retain the Premier League title as the champions highlighted their class with an easy 2-0 win over Chelsea at Wembley.

Pep Guardiola was rewarded for naming a strong side with Sergio Aguero scoring twice, once in each half, and City could have been victorious by an even greater margin in a one-sided contest.

Aguero looked sharp in front of goal and is 8-1 from 9-1 with bet365 to take the Premier League Golden Boot with Gabriel Jesus, who came off the bench to take up a wide position, was pushed out to 14-1.

Chelsea, who are 8-11 with Betfred and Sky Bet to finish in the Premier League's top four this season and a general 14-1 to reclaim the title, looked like a side still trying to find their style under new boss Maurizio Sarri.

The Blues will also improve once their late-finishing World Cup stars, including Eden Hazard and N'Golo Kante, return from their extended break but Sarri clearly has much work to do to replicate his methods used at Napoli with the Chelsea squad.

Sarri struggled but there were no opening-day blues for Marcelo Bielsa as his Leeds reign started with a bang in a 3-1 triumph over Stoke.

The Elland Road faithful were delirious at half-time as Mateusz Klich and Pablo Hernandez put Leeds 2-0 to the good before Benik Afobe's penalty early in the second half gave Stoke hope of launching a comeback.

However, that brief belief quickly evaporated as Liam Cooper restored United's two-goal advantage in an impressive Leeds performance.
