Comeback kings equal Premier League record

Manchester City left it late for the third top-flight match in a row to secure a 2-1 win - this time over West Ham - to restore their eight-point advantage at the summit and in the process equal the record for consecutive Premier League victories.

Pep Guardiola's league leaders will get the opportunity to break the record at Old Trafford against Manchester United with a 14th straight success in the top-of-the-table clash on Sunday. City are odds-on in places to triumph, although BoyleSports and Betway are offering 23-20.

Those who religiously back City have been put through the mill in recent matches with Raheem Sterling coming to their rescue against Huddersfield and Southampton but this time it was David Silva's excellent goal which saved the 1-8 favourites.

The City-City half-time full-time double-result market had been just
4-9 yet that was scuppered by the most unlikely of sources when 110-1 first goalscorer Angelo Ogbonna gave West Ham a shock lead.

However, the 35-1 Hammers could not hold out with Nicolas Otamendi equalising on 57 minutes before Silva's golden touch broke West Ham hearts with seven minutes remaining.

City are 1-8 to win the Premier League and 9-1 with bet365 to go through the top-flight campaign unbeaten, while 19th-placed West Ham are 11-10 to be relegated.

Bournemouth and Southampton remain in the bottom half following their 1-1 draw at Dean Court with visiting striker Charlie Austin cancelling out Ryan Fraser's opener.

Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster made one superb stop from Jermain Defoe but remains 4-1 with Coral and Ladbrokes to make England's World Cup squad. Defoe is 12-1 with Sky Bet.
