Comeback win sees City cut to be champions

MANCHESTER CITY moved back up to second in the Premier League after coming from behind to beat Arsenal 2-1 at the Etihad.

Things looked bleak for Pep Guardiola’s side following Theo Walcott’s early opener but Leroy Sane equalised on 47 minutes and Raheem Sterling sealed a deserved victory to see City cut to 9-2 to be crowned champions.

City, seven points behind leaders Chelsea, still have plenty of work to do but they look better equipped to challenge than fourth-placed Arsenal on the evidence of Sunday’s showing.

The Gunners, boosted by Walcott’s strike, controlled the opening quarter but were soon pushed back and showed little when trailing to suggest they can claw back nine points on Chelsea.

Arsene Wenger’s side are 12-1 for the title and their top-four hopes are also under threat with Tottenham just a point behind their north London neighbours following a 2-1 win over Burnley.

Clarets forward Ashley Barnes stunned White Hart Lane with the opener, although Dele Alli equalised before the half-time interval and Danny Rose earned Tottenham a vital victory.

Spurs are 6-4 to finish in the top four, while Arsenal are 1-2 and Manchester United, only four points back on the Gunners, can be backed at 11-8 in that market.

Bet365 rate Arsenal 13-8 shots not to finish in the top four – they had been only 4-1 with Ladbrokes to win the league before Tuesday’s 2-1 reverse at Everton.

Jay Rodriguez scored twice for seventh-placed Southampton in their 3-1 win at Bournemouth.
