Comfortable City tighten grip on fourth place
MANUEL PELLEGRINI said in the lead up to the West Ham game that it would be a “disaster” for his Manchester City to miss out on the Champions League and a comfortable 2-0 success over the Hammers on Sunday has made their top-four position far more secure.
City moved seven points clear of fifth-placed Liverpool (albeit having played a game more) and the champions are 1-20 with bet365 to finish in the Champions League qualifying positions.
Liverpool, beaten 2-1 by Aston Villa in their FA Cup semi-final on Sunday, are available to back at 6-1.
A James Collins own goal put City in front and Sergio Aguero added a second with his 20th Premier League strike of the campaign with the Argentinian forward cut to 8-13 by BoyleSports and bet365 to win the Premier League Golden Boot.
Harry Kane, who is a 6-5 shot, later joined Aguero at the top of the charts with the final goal in Tottenham’s 3-1 victory over Newcastle as the Londoners moved up to sixth which is currently the final qualifying spot for the Europa League.
Spurs are 10-11 with bet365 for a top-six finish with Southampton 8-11, although seventh will be good enough for Europe if Arsenal win the FA Cup final against Villa.
