England expected to name Allardyce
BOOKMAKERS havet suspended betting on Sam Allardyce becoming the next England manager after it was reported that he could be handed the job today.
Big Sam could be backed at 2-7 for the job on Wednesday morning but a flood of money saw his price contract further and he was as short as 1-16 with Paddy Power and Hills as news broke of his imminent appointment.
The Sunderland boss was available to back at 28-1 immediately after Roy Hodgson’s resignation following England’s 2-1 defeat against Iceland in the Euro 2016 last 16.
The FA are said to have plumped for Allardyce over other leading candidates including Steve Bruce, Jurgen Klinsmann and Bournemouth’s Eddie Howe.
