Favourites City keep up with the early pace
After three rounds of fixtures in the Premier League there is a familiar look to the top of the table with title favourites Manchester City joining Chelsea and Manchester United on nine points.
City, 6-4 to win the league, extended their perfect record under Pep Guardiola with a 3-1 home victory over West Ham thanks to two Raheem Sterling goals and one from Fernandinho.
Guardiola’s men know they are in a scrap, however, and neighbours United are 3-1 for the league with Chelsea next in the betting at 5-1.
Arsenal are 10-1 with Tottenham 14-1, Liverpool 20-1 and defending champions Leicester 66-1.
One possible concern for the Citizens is striker Sergio Aguero – the 9-4 favourite for the Golden Boot – who could face a retrospective ban for an elbow on defender Winston Reid. City’s next Premier League game is the Manchester derby at Old Trafford on September 10.
Defeat in Manchester capped a disappointing few days for West Ham, who lost in the Europa League playoffs on Thursday, and Slaven Bilic’s charges are 6-1 with Coral for a top-six finish. The Hammers are 4-6 to end the season in the top half of the table.
The first top-flight game of the day was a dour 0-0 draw between West Brom and Middlesbrough. The Baggies are 10-3 to be relegated this season while Boro, promoted from the Sky Bet Championship in May, are 5-1 to go straight back down.
Burnley and Hull, the other two promoted clubs, remain odds-on to be relegated.
