Guardiola 4-1 for European triumph

MANCHESTER CITY fell short in their quest to win this season’s Champions League and Coral rate them 12-1 to lift the European Cup for the first time next term.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men were well beaten despite losing only 1-0 on aggregate to Real Madrid in the semi-finals and are yet to look truly comfortable among Europe’s elite, something the club’s hierarchy will be hoping to change with the arrival of
Pep Guardiola next season.

Guardiola fell short of European domination at the semi-final stage with Bayern Munich in his three years in Germany but he twice lifted the trophy with Barcelona and is 4-1 with bet365 to win it during his three-year contract with City.

A Fernando own goal was all that separated City and Real Madrid on the scoresheet but in reality it was men against boys for most of the tie as Pellegrini’s side failed to land a serious blow on the Bernabeu hosts.

Real Madrid are 3-4 favourites to win the Champions League final at San Siro on May 28 with Atletico at 6-5.

Real beat Atletico in the 2014 final but the outsiders have a great recent record against their neighbours with only one defeat in ten since that extra-time loss.

It’s 4-1 with Coral that any Premier League team wins the competition next season with champions Leicester the highest-seeded club from England.

Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri has asked his stars to give him at least one more year before heading off to bigger clubs and when asked about the futures of players such as Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante the Italian said: “I’m very, very confident. Don’t go. If you go to another team, you might not get on the pitch.”

The champions are 100-1 with Coral to win next season’s Champions League.

Leicester host Everton on Saturday when they will pick up the Premier League trophy, but they will play the game without defender Robert Huth, who was given a three-match ban by the Football Association for his part in a clash with Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini.

Huth won’t play again this season but Fellaini, who also got a three-man ban, will return for the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace at Wembley on May 28.

United are 4-11 to lift the trophy with Palace at 12-5.
