Gunners 4-11 to shatter Spurs’ dreams of top four
ARSENAL and Tottenham are used to fighting to the finish in recent Premier League campaigns and they’re slugging it out for the final Champions League spot on Sunday, with the Gunners rated 4-11 and Spurs 9-4 to secure their place in Europe’s premier cup competition next season.
Two north-east outfits stand in the way of the north Londoners, with Arsenal 4-7 to win at Newcastle and Tottenham 3-10 to see off Sunderland at home.
Arsene Wenger’s side finished a point ahead of Spurs last term to nick third place and famously pipped their fierce foes to the post in dramatic fashion when the Tottenham players suffered food poisoning on the final day of the 2005–06 season.
Arsenal, who sit one point ahead of Spurs in fourth place, can still catch fellow Londoners Chelsea in third too. The Blues are two points ahead but the Gunners are 10-3 to overtake them and go straight into the Champions League group stage without needing to play a qualifier.
There is also a possibility that Arsenal and Chelsea will have to have a play-off to settle third place should the teams finish tied on points, goal difference and goals scored.
It’s 66-1 with bet365 for that eventuality to occur, which will be the case if Chelsea draw today’s match against Everton and Arsenal to beat Newcastle by one goal while scoring two goals more (for example, Arsenal win 2-1 and Chelsea draw 0-0).
Liverpool face QPR and are favourites with Hills and bet365 to be today’s highest-scoring team as the top-flight campaign ends.
Bradford put the pain of a Wembley thrashing in the Capital One Cup behind them to deliver a beating of their own to Northampton in yesterday’s League Two play-off final and the Bantams are 8-1 with bet365 to be promoted from League One next season.
Bradford were hammered 5-0 by Swansea in February’s League Cup final and that scoreline looked as though it could be better as they raced into a 3-0 lead in the first half hour, but Northampton tightened up and avoided a total humiliation.
The Cobblers are 16-1 with bet365 to bounce back and win League Two next term.
