Gunners make their point at Old Trafford
ARSENAL took a significant step towards gaining direct entry into next season’s Champions League following a 1-1 draw at Manchester United.
Two points from their remaining two matches will seal Arsenal at least third spot, although their goal-difference advantage of seven over United means one draw should be enough from home games against Sunderland and West Brom.
Hills rate Arsenal 8-13 to win both games and they are 150-1 to lose both.
United look set to face a tricky playoff match for a Champions League berth in August, but they deservedly led in the first half thanks to Ander Herrera’s goal before Arsenal improved dramatically in the second period.
The Gunners got their rewards with eight minutes remaining as Theo Walcott’s cross was diverted by Tyler Blackett past substitute goalkeeper Victor Valdes to deny those who had backed United at a low of 1.22 on Betfair’s exchange.
Arsenal’s draw will have also been celebrated by Hull – the relegation-threatened Tigers face United on Sunday in a must-win match and there is likely to be nothing riding on the fixture for Louis van Gaal’s outfit.
Manchester City remain second following a 4-2 win at Swansea. Gylfi Sigurdsson and Bafetimbi Gomis had dragged Swansea level from 2-0 down, but they can’t now qualify for the Europa League.
