Hodgson backed to fill Leicester vacancy
FORMER England manager Roy Hodgson is 6-4 with bet365 and BoyleSports to be the next Leicester manager after it emerged he had held ‘informal talks’ with the Premier League champions.
Hodgson has been out of work since the Three Lions’ dismal Euro 2016 and could replace Claudio Ranieri, who was sacked last week.
Caretaker Craig Shakespeare, who guided the Foxes to a 3-1 success over Liverpool on Monday, was available to back at the same price at 5pm yesterday.
Leicester are two points clear of the relegation zone and are 9-2 with bet365, Betfair and Paddy Power to be playing in the Sky Bet Championship next season.
Newcastle made a great leap in their attempt to get back into the top flight at the first attempt when they saw off their nearest challenger Brighton on Tuesday and Rafa Benitez’s side are 4-6 to claim top spot.
They lead the Seagulls by two points with 12 games to go, while Huddersfield are five points behind Chris Hughton’s outfit in third.
Brighton are 2-1 with bet365 and Hills to turn the tables on Newcastle and go up as champions. At the bottom, Blackburn gained a valuable 1-0 win over Derby and Rovers are 11-10 for the drop with Sky Bet.
