Holland outsiders in World Cup semi-finals
HOLLAND are the outsiders of four going into the World Cup semi-finals after they needed penalties to beat Costa Rica in Saturday’s quarter-final.
The Dutch are 7-2 to be crowned world champions for the first time and can be backed at 5-4 to overcome Argentina in Wednesday's semi-final.
The South Americans will be without Angel di Maria who has been ruled out of the tournament because of injury but it is Argentina who are now tournament favourites at 5-2, with fellow semi-finalists Germany and Brazil both 11-4.
Holland scored all five of their penalties and progressed thanks to substitute keeper Tim Krul, who saved twice after being brought on specifically for the shootout.
The Newcastle stopper was introduced at 80-1 by Hills to win the Golden Glove with Manuel Neuer 8-13 favourite followed by 7-2 shot Julio Cesar.
Costa Rica’s World Cup hero Keylor Navas is 6-1 to win the Golden Glove but he will no longer be able to impress the Fifa technical committee.
