Ibra is the star as Red Devils land EFL Cup
ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC proved to be the key man once again for Manchester United as the Swedish star scored a double in a dramatic 3-2 EFL Cup final victory over Southampton to seal Jose Mourinho’s first major trophy as Red Devils manager.
Ibrahimovic opened the scoring with a first-half freekick before Jesse Lingard repeated his FA Cup final heroics to double United’s lead.
Southampton fought their way back into the contest as Manolo Gabbiadini netted a brace but Mourinho’s men – who hit 13-2 in-play – had the final say with just three minutes to go when Ibrahimovic headed home a perfectly weighted Ander Herrera cross.
United were 4-5 to win in 90 minutes and 8-1 to claim the trophy when the contest began in August. Ladbrokes offer 14-1 that the Red Devils add the Europa League and FA Cup to their haul.
Harry Kane’s hat-trick in Tottenham’s 4-0 thrashing of Stoke has fired the Spurs hotshot into favouritism for the hotly-contested Premier League Golden Boot.
Five striker’s – Kane, Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku, Diego Costa and Ibrahimovic are separated by two goals and the England star is now a 7-4 shot to top the end-of-season scoring charts.
