Ireland 6-4 to qualify after holding Germany

IRELAND are 6-4 to qualify for Euro 2016 with Hills after they shocked World Cup winners Germany by gaining a late draw in Gelsenkirchen.

Sunderland defender John O'Shea, who was winning his 100th cap, stabbed the ball home from close range to earn Martin O'Neill's side a valuable point in their quest to book their place in France.

Scotland are 2-1 to qualify from the same Group D after they followed a 1-0 win over Georgia with a 2-2 draw in Poland.

The Poles had beaten Germany just three days earlier, but were pegged back by goals from Steven Naismith and Shaun Maloney.

Scotland face Ireland in their next qualifier on November 14.

Northern Ireland have not qualified for a major tournament since the 1986 World Cup, but they are just 6-5 with Coral to get through after they posted a 2-0 win in Greece after being 7-1 to win in Athens.

It was their third win from three matches in Group F, but they face a tough trip to Romania in the next match.
