Lennon and Hiddink vie for Foxes job favouritism
EARLY backing for Neil Lennon to fill to Leicester managerial vacancy has continued with the Bolton gaffer shortening to 6-4 to replace Nigel Pearson.
Ex-Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink was also proving popular and, by Thursday evening, had been cut from 20-1 to 2-1 with bet365.
Sam Allardyce continued to drift – out to a high of 10-1 last night – after reports he is not interested in the position at this stage, and the gamble on Steve Cotterill cooled with the Bristol City manager easing from 11-2 to 14-1.
Leicester are still drawing up their shortlist, but given the early market moves, it would be a surprise if Lennon and Hiddink are not in the frame.
After his sudden sacking, Pearson must wait and see if he gets another opportunity to manage in the Premier League.
However, bet365 think he may have to take a step back and go 1-2 that his next managerial job is in the Championship.
Japan joined USA in Sunday’s Women’s World Cup final after an injury-time own goal from England’s Laura Bassett sealed a 2-1 success in Edmonton in the early hours of yesterday.
The Japanese are 21-10 to stage a successful defence of their trophy and 4-1 to win inside normal time.
USA are 4-9 to win the tournament and 17-20 to do so without the need for extra-time.
Sunderland have continued preparations for the new season by handing a five-year deal to midfield enforcer Lee Cattermole.
Delighted Black Cats boss Dick Advocaat said: “Lee is the controller of the side. He is a motivator, a leader and central to the success of our team.”
