Liverpool 2-5 to see off Roma in semi-finals
Liverpool got the perfect Champions League draw with a semi-final tie against rank outsiders Roma which has seen Jurgen Klopp's side cut to joint-favouritism to win the European Cup for a sixth time.
In avoiding Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, Liverpool have lucked out and the Merseysiders are 2-5 to progress to the Kiev final at the expense of the Italians and 2-1 to win the Champions League.
The only downside for Liverpool is they will be at home in the first leg and even if they build an advantage Klopp's men will have to be wary of comeback kings Roma, who astonishingly overhauled a 4-1 deficit against Barcelona at the Stadio Olimpico in the quarter-finals.
Liverpool versus Roma brings Mohamed Salah back against the club he previously graced, while the other semi-final sees European heavyweights Bayern Munich and Real Madrid collide.
Real, aiming for a hat-trick of Champions League triumphs, are alongside Liverpool at 2-1 as they continue their difficult path towards the final having already seen off Paris St-Germain and Juventus in the knockout stages as well as coming through the most difficult group alongside Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund.
Bayern have announced their former player and current Eintracht Frankfurt boss Niko Kovac will join the club as manager from next season.
