Liverpool on course for Oxlade-Chamberlain
LIVERPOOL looked poised to win the race to sign Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain last night as reports emerged that the clubs had agreed a transfer fee for the England midfielder.
Oxlade-Chamberlain had looked as if he would move across London to join Chelsea but he was unable to agree personal terms amid rumours the Premier League champions wanted to use him as a wing-back – the reason why he wishes to leave Arsenal.
The Gunners also waved goodbye to left-back Keiran Gibbs, who joined West Brom, and they are 10-1 with Hills to sign the most players on deadline day.
Arsenal fans will be hoping Alexis Sanchez does not follow them out of the door, but the Chilean forward was just 8-15 last night to sign for Manchester City, despite being on international duty in South America.
The former Barcelona star was 15-8 with Paddy Power to stay at the Emirates, where his contract expires at the end of the season.
Liverpool are still in the hunt for Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk, but they face a race against time as moves will have to be completed before the window closes at 11pm.
Swansea, who were hotly tipped to sign Portuguese midfielder Renato Sanches on loan from Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, are 9-2 favourites to sign the most number of players, with Chelsea and West Brom at 5-1.
