Liverpool stunned by 6-1 underdogs Burnley
THE goals continue to flow for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, who defeated Stoke 4-1 at the bet365 Stadium, but two promoted clubs stole the limelight in the Premier League 3pm kick-offs.
Burnley landed odds of 6-1 to beat Liverpool at Turf Moor and ante-post relegation favourites Hull made it two wins out of two with a 2-0 victory at Swansea.
The Tigers had been 17-4 to follow up their opening win over champions Leicester with another three points in South Wales and the result boosted the chances of caretaker manager Mike Phelan getting the job permanently.
Coral and Hills make Phelan 1-4 to be appointed on a full-time basis although his side are still 10-11 to be relegated.
Manchester City’s success at Stoke came courtesy of two goals from Sergio Aguero and two from substitute Nolito. Aguero’s Golden Boot backers will have been relieved to see the
Argentina striker stay on penalties despite missing twice from the spot in the Champions League victory against Steaua Bucharest.
City are 7-4 to win the title with Manchester United 3-1, Chelsea 11-2 and Arsenal 10-1.
While 4-7 shots Liverpool flopped at Burnley, Tottenham (1-2)
and Chelsea (3-4) were winning favourites against Crystal Palace and Watford. The Blues had to come from a goal down to win 2-1 at Vicarage Road and Ronald Koeman’s Everton did the same thing at West Brom.
Leicester and Arsenal – the top two in the Premier League last season – drew 0-0 at the King Power Stadium. No goalscorer had been a 14-1 chance before kick-off.
Newcastle, 15-8 ante-post favourites for the Sky Bet Championship, won 1-0 at Bristol City to take their seasonal record to two wins and two defeats. High-flying Brighton were held to a 2-2 draw at Reading but Huddersfield continued their excellent start to the campaign with a last-minute winner over Barnsley.
Sheffield United, who kicked off the season as favourites to win League One, are bottom of the table after four games thanks to a 2-1 defeat at Millwall.
The Blades are out to 14-1 for the title while Bolton, who maintained their 100 per cent record with a home win over Fleetwood, are 6-1.
