Madrid joint-favourites after thumping Reds

REAL MADRID showed why they are European champions and why they are just 10-3 to retain their crown with an emphatic 3-0 dismantling of Liverpool at Anfield last night.

The Spanish giants were cut from 15-4 to lift the trophy and are joint-favourites with Bayern Munich in the outright betting.

It’s a mere formality now that Madrid qualify from the group but the battle to join them in the knockout stages looks set to be a fierce one after Ludogorets beat Basle 1-0 away to leave all three of the chasing pack in Group B on three points.

It’s 4-6 that Liverpool go through, 2-1 for Basle to progress and 4-1 for the Bulgarians to make the next stage.

There was better news for Arsenal, though, as two late goals secured a 2-1 victory over Anderlecht in Belgium.

Andy Najar put the hosts in front and it looked like being enough until an 89th-minute equaliser from Kieran Gibbs and the winning strike from Lukas Podolski just a minute later.

The win puts Arsene Wenger’s men five points clear of Anderlecht and Galatasaray in Group D and they are just 1-20 to qualify.

Atletico hammered Malmo 5-0 in Madrid and there was a shock in Athens where Olympiakos beat Juventus 1-0.
