Mark Hughes sacked by struggling Stoke
The FA Cup third-round matches brought few shocks on Saturday but Stoke’s 2-1 defeat at Coventry saw manager Mark Hughes sacked by the Potters.
Despite the gulf between Premier League Stoke and League Two Coventry, the Sky Blues were no bigger than 4-1 for victory. Hills make Ryan Giggs their early 5-1 favourite to replace Hughes with Martin O'Neill and Slavisa Jokanovic next at 8-1, while former England boss Steve McClaren is a 10-1 shot.
Cup favourites Manchester City came from a goal down but saw off Burnley 4-1 while Chelsea, Bournemouth, Leicester and Swansea were taken to replays by lower-league opposition.
Liverpool announced last night that they have agreed the sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona for a fee reported to be around £145m.
