Moyes odds-on to be next Magpies manager
STEVE McCLAREN had been long odds-on to become Newcastle’s next permanent manager, but there has been a big move towards David Moyes replacing interim coach John Carver with Ladbrokes now making the pair each 5-6 to take the position.
Reports have suggested McClaren turned down the opportunity to lead the struggling Magpies into battle for their three remaining matches of the campaign and that led to a move for Moyes to swap Real Sociedad for life on Tyneside.
Much could depend on what division Newcastle are playing next season.
They are 11-2 with bet365 and Coral to be relegated after losing their last eight Premier League matches with the Magpies only two points above the bottom three.
