Ox odds-on to seal World Cup spot after Reds deal

ALEX OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN was confirmed on Thursday as a Liverpool player following his £35m switch from Arsenal.

The move comes after the England forward turned down the offer of a new contract at the Emirates and a late bid from Chelsea.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is set to play for England on Friday evening, is 4-7 with Betway to make the Three Lions' squad for next year's World Cup finals in Russia. It's 5-4 that he misses out.

The firm are 5-6 that he makes 15 starts for his new club this season and the same price not to.

That was the biggest confirmed deal of transfer deadline day at 7pm yesterday but it wasn't the only business to be done by the Reds on a frantic day.

Mamadou Sakho finally looked set to complete his move to Crystal Palace after Liverpool agreed a deal of around £26m with the London club, while Divock Origi left Anfield to join Wolfsburg on a season-long loan.

Tottenham bagged right-back Serge Aurier from PSG in a £23m transaction but it was an incoming transfer to the French club that stole the headlines.

Kylian Mbappe's long-awaited move from Monaco finally went through although initially on a 12-month loan ahead of a permament deal next summer as the Paris side look to skirt around Financial Fair Play issues having already signed Neymar this month.

Swansea landed Renato Sanches from Bayern Munich in a season-long loan and Spurs were chasing Fernando Llorente.

Espanyol v Girona

Key stats
  • Girona have conceded seven goals in their last four away league games
Expert verdict
Espanyol are a top striker short of being a La Liga success - they have scored just 11 goals this season - but they are solid enough on home soil and can see off travelling Girona. The visitors have lost just one their six away matches this term but they squandered a two-goal lead at home to struggling Alaves last time out and defensively have plenty to prove.
