Pedro off to Chelsea rather than Old Trafford

PREMIER LEAGUE champions Chelsea look to have won the race to sign Barcelona forward Pedro.

The Spain striker was reportedly of great interest to Manchester United but has elected to move to Stamford Bridge.

A £21m fee has been agreed with the La Liga giants and Pedro, who scored 99 goals for the Camp Nou outfit, was set to travel to London for a medical last night.

Chelsea are 4-1 with Coral to retain their title after gaining one point from their opening two matches, while Manchester City are 13-10 with BoyleSports.

Another player set to leave Barcelona is former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song who is joining West Ham.

The 27-year-old spent last season on loan at Upton Park and could feature in Saturday’s home clash with Bournemouth.

There were moves in the market for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema to join Arsenal before the closure of the transfer window on Wednesday. He is 6-4 with Ladbrokes to move to the Emirates.

Leicester have boosted their midfield options with the signing of Napoli’s Gokhan Inler.

The Switzerland international heads to the King Power Stadium on a three-year contract and is new manager Claudio Ranieri’s sixth signing of the summer.

Inler could make his debut for the Foxes against Tottenham on Saturday.

One player who will not be in action this weekend is Barcelona defender Gerard Pique.

The La Liga season starts this weekend and Pique has been handed a four-match ban after being sent off in Barca’s Super Cup clash with Bilbao.
