Punters smash into big-spending Liverpool
Liverpool have been splashing the cash in an effort to build a title-winning side and their spending spree has caught the attention of punters, who are backing Merseysiders to claim a first league championship since 1990.
Ladbrokes have revealed that 40 per cent of all bets struck in their Premier League outright market have been for Liverpool.
Arsenal are the next most popular team with a 12 per cent share of bets and Manchester United are third with nine per cent.
Chelsea have landed the title twice in the last four years but are the least popular among the big six, attracting just three per cent of outright bets.
The Blues have had a difficult summer due to their lengthy delay before changing their manager but Maurizio Sarri has sprung into action at Stamford Bridge and swiftly made his first signing with midfielder Jorginho arriving from Napoli.
Further purchases are expected and Chelsea are 2-1 favourites with Coral to sign highly-rated 20-year-old Jamaican winger Leon Bailey from Bayer Leverkusen. Bailly is 4-1 to join Roma and 5-1 to sign for Bayern Munich.
Manchester United are still chasing a central defender and have been linked with moves for Toby Alderweireld, Harry Maguire and Leonardo Bonucci.
Ladbrokes have priced up all three players to make the switch to Old Trafford this summer and go 8-11 Alderweireld, 11-10 Maguire and 3-1 Bonucci.
